The changes your technical team made to the video view are terrible.

The old video view was cropped and more portrait-like. It was easier to see myself and it was easier for my patient to see me. Now the view is very wide like the Zoom view. This is a psychotherapy consult, I don't need to see so much of my patient's room and they don't need to see mine. Can you create an option of a cropped video view for myself and the patient??

wider camera length does not have a purpose

I dont understand what is the purpose of having such a wide camera length. this is a telemedicine app. Why my clients have to see entire room In am in?! I appreciate having a narrower lens option where clients can see me in the session and I dont have to worry about the background being the entire room. what a useless feature.

The "new" widescreen video format is problematic. I need to be able to control what the camera can see, and this new format has rendered it impossible. Same for the new inability to adjust my definition level (SD, HD, etc). Why can I no longer acces my own camera settings and make changes?

Hi Greg Walston - I hear your frustration, and I appreciate you taking the time to share your feedback. Our goal with the wider frame was to ensure that what you see matches exactly what your patient sees, eliminating any surprises. That said, I understand that this change isn’t working well for you, and we’re actively exploring ways to offer more control over video settings, including aspect ratios.
We truly value your input and are committed to making doxy.me as intuitive and effective as possible. I’ll make sure your concerns are shared with the team as we continue refining the experience. Please keep the feedback coming—we want to do whatever we can to make this better for you!

Hello Marla Liberman - Thank you for sharing your concerns—we truly appreciate your feedback!
Our goal with the updated video experience was to provide a more accurate preview of what your patient sees while also improving reliability across different network conditions. I understand that the wider view and color changes aren’t meeting your expectations, and I want to help.
We are actively working on giving you more control over video settings, including resolution options, so you can adjust quality based on your needs. Additionally, if the colors appear muted, it could be due to automatic adjustments by your camera. Checking your camera settings or trying a different lighting setup may help.
Your feedback is incredibly valuable, and I’ll share it with our team as we continue refining the experience. Please keep the feedback coming—we want to do whatever we can to make doxy.me work better for you!

Hi Herb Church,
Thank you for your feedback! I understand that having more control over your camera view is important, especially when it comes to maintaining privacy and minimizing distractions in your background.
Right now, the self-preview shows exactly what your patient sees to help avoid any surprises in the frame. While there isn’t currently an option to adjust the width of the camera view, I appreciate you sharing how this impacts your experience. I’ll make sure to pass this along to our team for consideration.
If there’s anything else I can do to help improve your workflow, please let me know—I want to make sure doxy.me works as smoothly as possible for you!

Hello Elizabeth Ault,
I truly appreciate your feedback and understand how frustrating this transition has been for you. We want to make sure the new experience works well for your needs.
For Picture-in-Picture, you can minimize it to the same size as before—just drag the corner to adjust. If you're still finding it difficult to manage alongside your documentation, I’d love to understand more about how we can improve this experience for you.
As for the widescreen view, I hear your concerns about showing too much of your space. The update was designed to provide a clearer, more accurate preview of what your patient sees, but I understand that it may not be ideal for everyone. Your feedback is incredibly valuable, and I’ll make sure to share it with our team.
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts—we truly appreciate it!

Thank you all for your thoughtful comments and feedback on the new experience. We truly appreciate it! Your input helps shape the platform and we've already made many updates based on feedback like yours. I wanted to share a quick update on a few key areas:
Screen size/aspect ratio: The camera view hasn’t changed, but your self-preview now shows the full frame, just as your patient sees it. Previously, it was cropped, so you might have missed parts of the view. Now, you’ll always know what’s in frame—no surprises!
Call Quality: Video resolution depends on network connection, and a weak connection on either end can affect clarity. We're actively working on giving you HD/SD quality options for more control over your video settings.
Picture-in-Picture: To improve productivity, we’ve moved it to a dedicated button in the bottom right of your in-session screen. Click the two interlocking rectangles to enable it.
Virtual Backgrounds: We've improved framing and movement adjustment. If your background looks fuzzy or foggy without "Blur," please check your camera settings.
Aspect Ratios: We're updating your video display for more options—stay tuned!
If you're using a camera that automatically zooms in, you may need to adjust its settings or check with the manufacturer, as doxy.me does not control zoom functions.
Thank you for your suggestions as we continue to make updates to the new doxy.me experience. We want to do whatever we can to create a telehealth platform that is easy to use for both you and your patients.

Reis Hansen: I completely understand your frustration and appreciate you taking the time to share your concerns. Our intention with the original Self-Preview was to help providers feel comfortable by offering a slightly zoomed-in view of themselves while still allowing access to the full patient view by hovering over the preview. That said, I can see how this could have led to unexpected surprises, and I’m sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
To clarify, the change in Self-Preview does not mean your patients suddenly see more than before—their view has always depended on their device and internet connection. The new experience now ensures that what you see in your Self-Preview is the maximum possible view your patient might see, so there are no surprises.
As for cropping: adjusting your self-preview to a cropped view does not change what your patient sees—they will still receive the full widescreen view based on their device’s capabilities.
Thank you for sharing your concern. I hope this helps clarify our changes, but if there’s anything we can do to help make the transition smoother or provide additional clarity, please let us know. We're always looking to improve based on your input.

I would like to have the option to shrink my camera so that it is not as wide, showing too much of my background.
